About The HVAC Edge

An independent software-review publication built for one trade: HVAC.

Last updated: June 2026

Why we exist

Most HVAC owners are told to “use AI” and “get better software,” then handed a list of 10,000 generic tools. The big review sites — Capterra, G2 — are built for enterprise buyers, not for a three-truck shop trying to stop missing calls during the spring AC rush. The HVAC Edge exists to close that gap: we tell HVAC contractors exactly which tools to use, how to set them up, and what they’ll actually pay — in plain English, for the way you really run a shop.

What we cover

We focus only on software and AI that matters to HVAC businesses: field service management, dispatch and scheduling, CRM, AI receptionists and call handling, review and reputation tools, marketing, and accounting. If a tool doesn’t help an HVAC contractor book more jobs, run the office, or get paid faster, it isn’t on our list.

How we’re different

We are not a directory. Every tool we recommend is evaluated hands-on against the same real HVAC scenarios — an after-hours no-heat emergency, a routine maintenance booking, a price-shopping caller — and scored on a published rubric. Vendors cannot pay for a higher ranking. When we earn an affiliate commission, we disclose it clearly, and it never changes where a tool places. You can read exactly how we work in our testing methodology and editorial policy.

Who’s behind it

The HVAC Edge was founded in 2026 by Peter Torreele to give HVAC contractors honest, hands-on guidance on the software and AI tools that actually grow a shop. Peter leads the editorial team, every guide is bylined, and our recommendations are based on testing against real HVAC scenarios — never on who pays us.

How we make money

The HVAC Edge is reader-supported. When you buy through some of our links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This lets us keep our reviews free and independent. See our full affiliate disclosure.
